Afghanistan President Contested by Opponent

Afghanistan

Incumbent Ashraf Ghani has been named President of Afghanistan after a 5-month delay, as his opponent claims himself the official winner. The initial election delay was caused after accusations of corruption and uncounted votes, now, both Ghani's opponent (who had 40% of the overall vote) and the Taliban refuse to acknowledge Ghani as the winner. This conflict could jeopardize the already turbulent US-Taliban Peace Deal.

Assange has been imprisoned for 50 weeks in the UK, and will be transferred to the US sometime this year.
