India and China Border Dispute

India and China

20 Indian soldiers (along with an unidentified number of  Chinese soldiers) were killed and dozens more were captured by the Chinese military after a border dispute. The Galwan Valley, an area high on the Himalayas, has been contested by both countries for decades. According to both country's border code, the soldiers are not allowed to use guns - therefore - the soldiers brawled using fists and clubs.

United Nations

Mexico, Ireland, India, and Norway were elected to the 15-member council for the next two years. These member countries decide where UN peacekeepers are to be deployed and where the world need to concentrate its resources to keep the peace. This council has the power to make legally binding decisions; such as placing sanctions. There is one seat still open that will go to either Kenya or Djibouti.

Pandemic

Latin-America is is quickly becoming the world's new pandemic epicenter, with 70,000 deaths and 1.5 million confirmed cases. As many countries begin to open back up, experts worry that this first wave of cases will continue until after summer ends. There are now 8.5 million confirmed cases and 460k confirmed deaths worldwide.
