Syrian War Escalates

Syria/Turkey

After the killing of 33 Turkish soldiers, the Turkish military began striking back at Syrian forces. This is a worrying escalation in the 8-year Syrian civil war, mostly because Turkey is in NATO and is supported by European countries. At the same time, Russia controls the airspace above Syria that Turkey is using to launch its attacks, forcing some to wonder; if Russia retaliates against Turkey, will NATO retaliate against Russia?

United States/Afghanistan

The United States and the Taliban signed an agreement to end the war. The United States agreed to withdraw all 13,000 forces from Afghanistan in the next 14 months if the Taliban would adhere to a ceasefire. This could be the first step in ending the nearly 18-year old conflict.
The Deal

Israel

After two inconclusive votes in September and April 2019, Israel is heading to the polls yet again. Neither Netanyahu nor Gantz is expected to receive the necessary votes in order to form a government, likely leading to a fourth election. This comes months after Netanyahu was indicted on corruption charges.
