Is Evo Gone?

The Bolivian President has resigned, one day after state police joined the protests that have rocked the country for weeks. Evo Morales became a fourth term President in 2019 after the country's supreme court voted to dissolve term limits. Violent protests began on October 21st after accusations of voter tampering and ballot stuffing during Morales' fourth term campaign, and on November eighth, state and federal police were seen protesting along with civilians. On Saturday, Morales reluctantly resigned after calling the police protests, "the beginning of a coup."

Michael Bloomberg (the mega-billionaire) has filed paperwork in Alabama to become a Democratic candidate for President. Back in March, Bloomberg had stated that he supported Joe Biden's campaign and would not run for President. Yet, it is possible that Warren's rise in the polls pushed Bloomberg to run for President, since he does not believe in a wealth tax (which Warren proposes) and has labeled stated that she is running on a socialist platform.

Spain held general elections as protests in Barcelona called for a Catalonian referendum. All 350 lower house and 208 senatorial seats were up for grabs on Saturday, where the Socialist party won the most seats followed by the Populist party. It is also important to note that the Vox party (far right) doubled the number of seats they held. The top four parties focused their campaigns by addressing the push for Catalonian independence head on, as protests in Barcelona turned violent

India's Supreme Court ruled that a Hindu temple can be built on top of a demolished holy mosque, drawing wide criticism from India's 200 million muslims. This move was seen as a political victory for the current President's party, who promised Hindu's a temple built on the holy site where the demolished mosque once stood. Muslims worry that the government will take a pro-Hindi perspective and will not adequately represent the Muslim minority.
