Pandemic
Cases are now approaching the 2 million mark, while there are now over 110k deaths. The US has 550k cases, Spain 170k, Italy 160k, and France 130k. Over the last couple of days, new cases have begun to plateau worldwide. Yet, experts remain "cautiously optimistic" and warn that social distancing measures should continue to stay in place even as the number of cases decreases.
Oil
After months of uncertainty and crude oil prices dropping by 50%, OPEC announced a plan to reduce oil output by 10 million barrels per day. The problem began back in March after Russia refused to cut its oil production in order to increase their market share over US oil producers (Russia say it was caused by the coronavirus).

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been recovering after entering intensive care on Monday due to the coronavirus. This placed the Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, as the acting head of state. Raab is a key player and believer in Brexit and expert on foreign politics, but many doubt his ability to lead the UK through this unprecedented pandemic.
