403 Chinese government files describing the situation in Xinjiang, where one million Uighur muslims are being held in internment camps, have been leaked. The files were provided by the federal government to police forces in Xinjiang, and give a detailed explanation of how they should answer civilian's questioning where the Uighur population went. This comes as the international community calls for a look into these internment camps, while China claims their purpose is simply to "re-educate" the Uighur population.
Iran blocked all internet access on Sunday as anti-government protests rocked the Middle Eastern country. The protests began three days ago after the government raised oil prices by 50%, and have caused at least 12 deaths. These protests join others in neighboring Lebanon and Iraq, where people are voicing their discontent with Iran's government and the influence they have in the Middle East.
Two people in China have been diagnosed with the most dangerous strain of the Bubonic Plague (thought to have been eradicated in the 18th century). Authorities have stressed that the chances of an outbreak are extremely low, and that both patients are under intense hospital care. This case mimics others (like this one in Serbia three years ago) and can be directly traced to global warming and the melting of permafrost. This melting can reveal thousand-year old animals which can carry dangerous diseases.
